Cass & Nathan

On an overcast day in February, two pizza lovers celebrated a love that started at uni.

A simple knock at the door led to forever…

On 12th February 2017, Nathan arrived in Melbourne with his parents who had taken the long journey from NSW to move him into the student residences of La Trobe university.

Cass—his building’s assigned Student Leader—was notified of his arrival. Now, Cass isn’t exactly the most extroverted person, so when she saw the name "Nathan Brown" pop up, she begrudgingly made her way over to introduce herself. With at knock at the door, Cass waited patiently, ready to meet Nathan only to be greeted by Nathan’s mum instead. Cue confused look by Cass. Luckily, Jude quickly introduced her to Nathan, who would later describe this moment as being greeted by “the breath-of-fresh-air-incarnate that is Cass.” They exchanged pleasantries, fun facts, added each other on Facebook, and Cass disappeared into the sunset.

Fast-forward to the September inter-college ball…

Nathan and Cass had become fast friends, but something about this night was different. They spent the evening talking, laughing, dancing, and…flirting. After the ball, their group continued the fun over at their student accom and as the night wore on and friends slowly filtered out, it was then just Nathan, Cass, and one very persistent third wheel who just wasn’t picking up on the hint that maybe three was a crowd!

Regardless, that night Nathan realised Cass might just be interested in something more than friendship. So eventually, he worked up the courage, asked her out on a dinner date, and—well, you can guess how the story goes from there.

On the day of their wedding here’s what they did differently…

6 years later, Cass and Nathan got HITCHED, BABY! It turned out to be a rainy afternoon, but who doesn’t love cooler weather over sweaty hot days?

They had a ‘first look’ and got all of the important photos done early— couple portraits, family pics and wedding party shots. This freed them up to enjoy more time with their guests during cocktail hour.

And there was food galore!

Most importantly, they told me pizza was a big part of their story so it felt more natural for them to have continuous servings of pizza for dinner. This meant, instead of cutting the cake, they opened up dinner with a cutting of the pizza. Desert was then provided by The Gelato Man serving tasty ice cream instead.

Three hats in one.

I was honoured to be there to not only get them married, but also provide a little live music and drive the reception train as their MC.

“Jade was our ah-mazing celebrant, muscian, and MC at our wedding.”

“She is a certified legend and an all-around wonderdul person!!! My now husband and I were both quite nervous about our ceremony - both typically shying away from being the centre of attention. Having Jade as our celebrant was the best decision ever. Our ceremony was beyond special, the perfect combination of feeling at ease whilst being so full of laughter and happy tears. She felt like one of our best friends standing up there with us and sharing our story in such a unique and special way. Every single one of our guests commented on our wonderful Jade was, and how beautiful our ceremony was being led by her. I couldn't recommend Jade enough if you are looking for your wedding ceremony to be special and unique to you, to ooze of good times and laughter with the perfect balance of heartfelt and sentimental moments. Not to mention booking Jade in as a triple threat with performing live music and MC-ing - you can't go wrong! Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤️ we will always look back at our wedding and remember what a special role you played, it quite simply wouldn't have been the same without you!”
